Patchouli was a great favorite in the 1970s, but it was popular long before the hippie movement. In the 19th century, oil was used to scent linen and clothing imported from India. In the early 1900's it was the base for many perfumes as well. This popular musky, earthy scent comes from the leaves of Pogostemon cablin and is said to have many therapeutic properties. It acts as an antibacterial, antifungal, insect repellent and some say an aphrodisiac. Whatever the reason you like patchouli, this strong and lasting scent is sure to be your favorite. This bar is layered lent with paprika to provide a rich shade of brown, and coffee and as a moderate exfoliate. You can use the bar to scent a drawer before use or a room freshener.
